Thanksgiving Feast

Friday, Ezra had his school Thanksgiving Feast. This was our first time to experience the feast at the preschool, but we have definitely heard about it from our friends. They separate the different classes into pilgrims and Indians.  Ezra's Busy Bee class were Indians! How perfect for my little Ezra. He loved learning about Indians and how they hunt buffalo's with bows and arrows. Just like his dad. He would come home and tell me all about the hunts and make his "Indian sounds". It was cute. I am not sure what I expected when I was preparing myself for this feast, but I am blown away with his school! They had all the kids sitting at one long table separated by Pilgrams and Indians, all dressed up! SOOO CUTE! They began the feast with a big table prayer, then were served by the parents that signed up to help. It was great. Brent even was able to make the end of it. I was excited that he made it to see how cute it was. Ezra was SUPER EXCITED to see Brent, too! I say this a lot, but we are so blessed by OHC Preschool, and Ezra's teacher, Ms. Nancy!!

The good, bad and Ugly of learning to write your name!

Recently, Ezra has been a kick about writing his name. I love it! I work with him on it using hand over hand, and then, he also practices on his own. Well, remember the story about the green crayon on our upstairs couch?? Recap: Ezra needed paper to write his name, didn't see any, so he chose to use the couch as his pallet.

Well, last night, he was up a little later than usual because he took a three hour nap. He was in his bathroom going to the bathroom, sitting in the dark. I was looking up something on the computer, waiting for him to be done so we could finish up and get to bed. I hear him say, "all done, mommy." This is my cue to come "help" him. As I walk in the bathroom and flip on the light, I see him sitting on the toilet covered in black marker!! It is on his cheeks, hands, arms and legs! I asked him what he was doing, and of course, his response is, "writing my name". I asked him if we write on ourselves and he says "no" to which I reply, "then why do you have marker all over you?" He gives me this look, like I should know why, and says, "but mom, I couldn't find any paper!" Okay, apparently I need to keep MORE PAPER out, but come on! I love that he is interested in writing his name, but would LOVE IT even more, if it was in the right place. That boy. Gotta love him. He thought he was in big trouble so he didn't want to come out of the bathroom to show Brent. I just laughed. He got a wash cloth and started cleaning it off. Luckily, it was a dry-erase marker so it came off very easy! Hopefully we will have more "practice" with writing his name, but I would like it to be on paper!

Aggie Game

This post is also late.

Brent and I went to the Aggie game, against Arkansas, at the Cowboy Stadium. We took the kids to Dallas with us, but left them with my brother and his wife. They had a great time playing with their cousins! We don't get to do it that often, so when we do, it is a special treat.
Brent and I met up with his Uncle, Aunt and Cousin to watch the game. We had a great time at the game even though the Aggies did not win. It had been a little bit since we have been able to go to a game, so just being at a game again was worth it. It was also our first time at Cowboy Stadium. Pretty impressive, even if the Cowboys are stinkin' it up right now. Hopefully we will be able to go to another game soon. I really love college football!

Hunting Success

Well, Brent is home from hunting! He got home last Tuesday night! I was very excited to see that boy! They had a great time in New Mexico, but came home empty handed. When Thursday was rolling around, I remembered that it was opening weekend for white tail here, so I kinda mentioned it and asked him if he had to work the weekend. He very cutely and patiently said, "No..". I continued to ask him if he was going to try and hunt. He again very cutely and patiently said, "I would like too...". After being gone for 5 days and NIGHTS hunting in New Mexico, he was trying not to push it. I agreed to let him go Friday night so he could hunt all Saturday. I ended up taking the kids to Fredericksburg, Saturday, so Ezra could hang out on the farm during the day. While the boys were doing boy things, Emersyn and I went to town to have lunch with some friends. It was a good Saturday. Brent ended up shooting an 8 point buck that was a great size! Biggest one he has shot out on the farm. It was fun to see him excited. Ezra was very proud of his daddy, too. To top it off, the Aggies BTHO OU!! Great little weekend. Here is a homecoming picture of Brent and the kids, and some pictures of his buck this weekend.

Pumpkin Patch

This is a late post, but I finally got around to putting the pictures on the computer! We just went to a little pumpkin patch at a church by our house. It was still fun. They each picked out a little pumpkin. We took the pumpkins home and painted them in our drive way. It was a lot of fun for all of us!

Oh Ezra

I thought I would write down some funny things Ezra has been saying lately.

The other day:  Ezra was outside with Emersyn playing baseball. He was pretending to hit the ball and then let his bat fly through the air. I came to the door and said "Ezra, be careful. That almost hit your sister." E: "But mom, that's what that other baseball player did". (talking about a baseball player he had seen that swung so hard his bat went into the stands) M: "Yes, but he did it on accident because he sung the bat so hard. You are doing it on purpose." E: "But mom, my bat went over Emersyn's head and didn't hit her. So, I am not in trouble."

Last night: Ezra wrote on the couch with a green crayon! He has never done this before and knows good and well we write on paper ONLY at the table. I came out of his room, from putting new sheets on his bed, to find this. E: "Mom, look! I wrote my name."  M: "Oh good. Let me see". (ezra points to the couch) M: " Ezra, why did you write on the couch." E: "Because I wanted to write my name and couldn't find a piece of paper." M: "Ezra, where do we color??" E: "On paper at the table." M: "Then why did you color on the couch?" E: " Mom, I told you. I wanted to write my name and couldn't find a piece of paper!"

Gosh... I will have to come back to this post. There were so many in my head this morning, and as the day goes on, and packing gets going I am blanking. He is getting to be so witty and funny and so SMART! I look at him sometimes and think. "you are only 3, right?!"

Fall Party/Halloween Weekend

Well, to start off, Brent left for New Mexico Thursday for his annual mule deer hunting trip! He went with two of his uncles. They are not coming back until TUESDAY NIGHT!! So, I am embracing the role of 'single mom' until then. So far, we have been good.
Friday, Ezra's school had their Fall parade and class party. It was so much fun. They got to wear their costumes and walk around the upstairs of the church, with their class, and trick or treat while the parents passed out candy. Later in the day, they had their class party. The parents take turns to plan the class parties. I was in charge of the Fall party this time. We brought lunch for the kids, decorated pumpkin cookies, carved a pumpkin and played a sensory/feel game. It was a hit! It was fun to experience Ezra in his class and with his friends. I LOVE his teacher, Ms. Nancy! She is the sweetest lady. Ezra loves her too!
Saturday morning, we went to our friends apartment complex to help them with the Halloween Brunch they threw for the residents. They are a part of the Cares Ministry through our church that serves the residents of an apartment complex. They throw brunches and gatherings and make themselves available to the residents. It is always a neat thing to experience the blessing they are to the residents they serve. They had about 80 or so people show up to this brunch so we were busy making pancakes and eggs! That afternoon, my grandma came to visit and have lunch. I got to show her our hopeful new house.
Sunday, Halloween, we went to church and had a relaxing day of playing outside. We had planned to go trick or treating and have a great night. However, things don't always turn out that way. Emersyn started getting fussy and pulling her right ear, AGAIN! She also had a slight fever. So, we headed to Sonic, got 50 cent corn dogs and came back home. I gave Emersyn tylenol and numbing drops for her ear and put her to bed. Ezra was playing outside and started laying down on the driveway saying, "I'm tired". So, I figured we could put on his Buzz Pj's and pass out candy. While we were waiting, he was very much ready to go to bed. So, by 7:15 both kids were in bed and asleep!! We didn't even make it till the trick or treaters came!! I felt bad for them, but then was thankful that we had Friday at Ezra's school. He at least got to wear his Knight costume twice. Emersyn, well, she didn't wear hers at all!! I tried to get her to wear it and she ran away saying, "NO, NO". Maybe next year! Probably the best for us anyway, with Brent gone and all.
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!
