Great Wolf Lodge

So, remember in December when we were supposed to go on this great family ski trip and someone (ME!) ruined it for the whole family by getting sick!? Well, we came across a great deal to Great Wolf Lodge and jumped on the chance to go. We have heard such great things about this resort, and have really been wanting to check it out. Our kids are water rats. They LOVE the water, so we knew it would be a great place for our family. Our really good family friends, the Garrison's, joined us on this venture.

We headed up to Grapevine last Thursday and arrived at the resort 30 minutes before story time was about to begin. We headed upstairs to our room, unloaded our stuff, changed into our pj's and made it back down in time for story time. After story time, we walked around the resort, checking it out before heading to bed.

Friday, we started out nice and early with a yummy breakfast and headed straight to the water. There were slides, wave pools, a lazy river, pools with logs to jump across, pools with basketball hoops, hot tubs, more slides, and fun rides for 1, 2 or 5 people! We had a BLAST. I wasn't sure how Ezra was going to do because he is our more 'cautious' guy and he needs a lot of encouragement to just walk up the stairs on tall rides like that. BUT, once Brent was able to get him to go down one, he was going down them ALL. Emersyn even did all the rides/slides that she was tall enough for. It just was so much fun. We probably stayed in the water from 9-1, took a lunch/rest break, then headed back down till dinner. For dinner, we ordered a pizza and walked around the resort, looking at games, meeting different resort characters, and looking into the magic quest they had all around the resort.

Crazy side story: The resort has this magic quest adventure that is hidden all around the resort. You have to buy a wand, and a quest and then you are off finding clues to figure out the different levels to eventually beat this dragon. So MANY kids were doing it. EVERYONE walking around had this dang wand. Ezra wanted to do it sooo badly. After we looked into it, and seeing it was  like 30$+ just for the wand, we said 'NO' and told him we could play games in the arcade and get ice cream instead. Well, he was upset about this and started crying a little bit. Not the whole throw a fit whine/cry but he was upset. This guy walks up to me and asks, "does your son want a wand?" I said, 'yes, but we aren't going to do it this time.' He continues to tell me that he wants to buy Ezra a wand. I declined him, politely, several times, but he was still persistent. Well, then we get Brent involved and Brent said "NO" several times to this man. He was STILL persistent. Well, after a while, the man buys Ezra a wand. It took forever for the ordeal to go down. Something about wanting to pay with cash, but he wasn't able to so he had to return and rebuy...CRAZY LONG TIME. Anyway, 54 DOLLARS later!!!! Ezra has a magic quest wand. So, part of our time was questing.. ahh. The girls and I got ice cream and went to story time with the Garrison girls while Brent and Ezra quested.

Saturday, we had a lazy morning and ate breakfast in the room. We packed up our stuff and loaded the car with the stuff we weren't going to need. We checked our shower bags in at the bell hop and headed back to the water. We spent the whole day at the water. The fun part this day was my brother and his family met us at the park and played with us the whole day. When it was time for dinner, we showered and headed out to Grapevine to meet my sister and her family for dinner. We celebrated Townes birthday with Mexican food and ice cream! We spent the night at my sisters and headed back home on Sunday.

It was a great weekend!

Valentine's/Rodeo

I am HORRIBLE at keeping up with this thing lately!! I am hoping that life will slow down, but with 3, I know it won't! I just need to be better at sitting down at the computer and blogging. Or figure out the whole "app" thing and blog from my phone! Until then.. this is what I got!

Valentine's day, we had such a FUN busy day. I dropped Emersyn off at preschool and Elynn and I headed to Friedrich Park to go to a toddler nature class. It was all about WORMS. It was such a fun class and something that Elynn and I could do together. After the class, we picked up chick-fil A and headed to Emersyn's class party. We got to eat, make treats and play games. Ezra's school did absolutely nothing to celebrate Valentine's, and I think he was a little bummed about it. So, I pulled him from school early and me and my 3 headed to the rodeo grounds to ride rides, eat cotton candy, see the animals and watch some shows. It was such a FUN FUN day! They were awesome and loving every minute of it! Here are pictures of our day!

A hospital visit and the FLU

A couple days before Christmas, Ezra woke up around 10p and came downstairs saying he couldn't breath. He sounded HORRIBLE. He was having a real hard time catching his breath and taking in good breaths. He has had allergy induced asthma since he was a baby, so we gave him a breathing treatment to see if that would help at all. After the breathting treatmeant, he was still having trouble breathing and was getting upset about it. Brent and I decided he needed to go to the ER. Brent took him in while I stayed home with the girls. I was such a scary time just sitting at home waiting for any news of how your baby is doing...
When Brent got to the hospital, they immediately took him in to the trauma room and started oxygen. They tried to do a mist with him to see if that would help. His pulse and O2 stats were good the whole time. They gave him a steroid and another strong breathing treatment and he was able to catch his breath. They said it was Croup. They kept him at the hospital for 3 hours after his treatment to make sure he was stable before they sent him home. The CRAZY thing about it all, was he had NO symptoms BEFORE he woke up saying he couldn't breath, and didn't have ONE symptom AFTER the hospital. I don't really think it was Croup. I have NO IDEA what it was, but it was Super Scary! I am thankful we have family and friends who I can count on to pray for us and over us!

The Sunday AFTER Christmas I woke up feeling HORRIBLE!! I thought that my body was probably just tired because we had been going going, so I told Brent that I thought I should stay and bed and rest. He is AWESOME and said that sound fine. Well, Monday was NO DIFFERENT. My body hurt so bad and I just felt HORRIBLE. That afternoon, I got out of bed and decided I needed to go to the doctor and get checked out. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the flu. We were supposed to be leaving for our ski trip on Wednesday and I wanted to get some meds before the trip so I could be feeling good enough to go. So, I took myself to the Texas Med clinic while Brent stayed home with the kids. After 3 hours of being at the med clinic, and feeling like I was going to die, I found out that sure enough, I did indeed test POSITIVE FOR THE FLU! Of course, this year, I did NOT get a flu shot. Although, I have had several friends who DID get the flu shot and still ended up getting the flu! Well, I was in bed, SO SICK, for 6 DAYS! I have never had the flu. I felt so bad and had no idea when my body would feel fine enough to be able to get out of bed. On Thursday night, I had developed a pretty bad cough that made my chest hurt SO BAD. I decided to go the Med Clinic once again to make sure I didn't have pneumonia. Thankfully, I didn't have pneumonia and everything in my lungs looked good. Needless to say, we missed the ski trip and I was still sick with the flu on our Anniversary. Poor Brent. He was and IS a ROCK STAR DAD!! He took the kids all week by himself, to the zoo, the library, chick fil a, bass pro shop, the farm and fredericksburg. Praise God, no one else in the family got the flu or even got sick!! It took a whole week AFTER the flu for my body to feel normal and strong enough to do things. Man that was tough. Now we need to have a make up ski trip and Anniversary date!!
